The ability to modify parameter values without the need to directly edit the families significantly improves the management of these values and increases efficiency in maintaining the families by the catalog administrator.
To facilitate this task, ApliCAD offers a mass update service for parameters in the families as requested by the user. The process is carried out as follows:
- The administrator contacts ApliCAD and requests the mass update service for their catalog.
- ApliCAD generates an output in .csv format of the catalog data with the following structure:
- The first row contains the identifiers of all the parameters in the catalog.
- The first columns include values that should not be modified and that directly identify all the families and types existing in the catalog.
- At the intersection of each family and type (row) with the parameters (columns), the cell shows the current value for that parameter.
There are some key points to be aware of:
- If a cell value starts with “NOT MODIFIABLE|”, it indicates that this parameter is not editable for the selected family and type, and therefore will not be included in the mass update.
- If a cell value starts with “IS INSTANCE|”, it means that the parameter is being used as an instance parameter and is not modifiable.
Once the administrator has finished editing the .csv file (which can be opened with Excel), it must be sent back to ApliCAD.
When preparing the file, it is important to consider the following:
- The first row and the number of columns must not be modified.
- The content of the last column cannot be altered by the user.
- The user can delete the rows they wish, always keeping the first row intact. It is recommended to send only the rows that have changes, as the update process is lengthy and depends on the number of families and types that need to be modified.
